Hi! For those that don’t know me, my name is Kristine Krynitzki. I’m often referred to as “Hikes Near Vancouver” as that’s the name of my passion project, but I’m a person too 🙂 Just little ol’ me running this thing. Through various channels, I share a wide variety of information about hiking in and around Vancouver, BC, Canada and related topics.

Love hiking? Care about the issues I work on? Want special VIP access to more great stuff? You can help support the work I do by becoming a Patron and in turn receive lot of great, tailored hiking content based on your selected membership level!

The work I do has two main impacts: sharing information and creating community. The goals I achieve include creating accessibility, inspiring environmental conservation, educating about topics like safety and etiquette, and facilitating connections within the community.

Sharing content on my social media channels and this website, as well as all the other related activities I do like running a community hiking group, teaming up with other local hiking-related groups like BC AdventureSmart and BC Search and Rescue branches, guest-speaking at educational events, interviewing for news outlets and radio shows like CBC and DailyHive Vancouver, podcasts like Trail Running Women, and more, takes A LOT of my time. And as we all know, time is money. The level of experience and knowledge that I have are worth a lot, but I give it freely because I love doing it and because it is so important. Hikes Near Vancouver (HNV) is not a job for me (I make a living working full-time for pennies at a wildlife preservation and education charity in Vancouver, also because it’s important work). I make a teency bit of money from HNV through some sponsored social media posts, but that barely covers my hard costs of running HNV, like the hosting this website.

So, if you are interested in what I do, want more, and/or would like to support my work, I would be ever so grateful! I have just registered an account on Patreon, which in their words, is a place where “you can let your fans become active participants in the work they love by offering them a monthly membership. You give them access to exclusive content, community, and insight into your creative process. In exchange, you get the freedom to do your best work, and the stability you need to build an independent creative career.” Visit patreon.com/hikesnearvancouver to learn more and become a Patron.

Below is what my page looks like on Patreon, including the different benefits I’m offering to each level of support:

Thank you in advance for your support!
